Artists have long rocked stages for charity, from Queen’s legendary 20-minute Live Aid set that raised millions, to U2’s global telethons, George Michael’s star-studded Live 8 anthems, and Coldplay’s all-star Global Citizen Festival fueling aid worldwide. Now, that legacy of giving is taking a slightly different turn, with Cardi B doing her bit for a noble cause, just not in the way everyone expected.

NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani has enlisted Cardi B to judge an exciting jingle competition tied to his groundbreaking 2-K program. This delivers free childcare for 2-year-olds starting this fall, launching with 2,000 seats across neighborhoods like Fordham in the Bronx, Washington Heights in Manhattan, Canarsie, and Southeast Queens in Brooklyn.

The initiative opens enrollment June 2-26, welcoming all families regardless of income or immigration status, backed by Governor Kathy Hochul's $73 million commitment. The Bronx-born rapper, a mom to four young children, including 7-year-old Kulture and 4-year-old Wave, jumped at the chance after a lively video meetup where she geeked out over the 34-year-old mayor steering the city.

She championed free care as a lifeline for women stalled by babysitting barriers, prompting Mamdani to riff on her 'Bodak Yellow' line: families can now "get ’em both," affordable childcare and Big Apple life, without impossible tradeoffs. New Yorkers can submit catchy 15- or 30-second originals by April 17 at NYC.gov/jingle. Cardi B selects finalists for public vote, with the winner blasting on the radio.

While Cardi B is lending her star power to this kids' initiative, she is also celebrating a major legal victory.

Cardi B wins major copyright lawsuit dismissal

A Texas federal judge tossed out a $50 million copyright lawsuit against Cardi B on March 30, 2026. The ruling found her 2024 hit 'Enough '(Miami) did not infringe on the obscure track Greasy FryBread by Joshua Fraustro and Miguel Aguilar. Filed in July 2024, the suit alleged Cardi B copied, misappropriated, and profited from their song, which briefly appeared in FX's Reservation Dog.

U.S. District Judge Fernando Rodriguez dismissed the case without prejudice, citing jurisdictional flaws and insufficient evidence, barring further amendments. This marks her second major courtroom victory recently, following a September 2025 Los Angeles jury clearing her of a $24 million assault claim by ex-security guard Emani Ellis over a 2018 incident.

From courtroom triumphs to city hall collabs, Cardi B's star power now fuels NYC's 2-K push as she judges jingles for Mayor Mamdani's free toddler childcare rollout. Cleared of theft claims, the Bronx icon channels her wins into community anthems, proving her beat-making extends far beyond the booth.
