In the high-octane world of hip-hop, the headlines never stay quiet. The former member of the influential hip-hop trio Migos, rapper Offset (Kiari Kendrell Cephus), has lived under the glare of the spotlight for years, and now, what seemed far from trouble has pushed him into the headlines once again, as he has recently been alerted to a rumbling lawsuit.

Recently, TMZ reported that rapper Offset is facing a lawsuit over an alleged $100,000 debt with a Detroit casino, a sum the rapper is reportedly working to settle. The MotorCity Casino Hotel claims Offset opened a credit line earlier this year to cover a night of gambling, but when the casino attempted to collect the funds directly from his account, there weren’t enough to cover the balance. The casino has now filed legal claims including breach of contract and fraud, while Offset’s team says they are actively looking to resolve the matter.

"We are working toward a resolution." A representative of Offset told TMZ.

Meanwhile, Offset continues a streak of bad luck, landing in yet another high-profile incident just days after the casino lawsuit surfaced. Someone shot the rapper in the leg outside Florida’s Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino after tensions flared between his crew and Lil Tjay’s team. The confrontation escalated quickly, and gunfire erupted, leaving Offset with injuries that remained thankfully non-life-threatening. Responders immediately took the rapper to the hospital for treatment, while authorities briefly detained Lil Tjay for disorderly conduct and released him the following day.

And this is just the latest chapter in Offset’s string of financial headaches, as the rapper as recently set over $1.5 million in federal taxes.

Offset faced a massive tax settlement

Offset faced a major financial headache early in 2026. The IRS sued him over a federal tax lien of $1,575,266.73 for the 2022 tax year, marking a serious chapter in his ongoing money troubles. The IRS had initially filed the lien on April 3, 2024, and by January 16, 2026, court documents confirmed that Offset had fully resolved the debt.

But the federal lien was not the only challenge. Offset also dealt with a state-level tax claim from the Georgia Department of Revenue for $266,702.21 related to 2021. At the peak of these issues, his combined state and federal tax obligations reportedly topped $2.3 million, making it a particularly rough start to the year for the rapper.

And with the recent $100K casino lawsuit, Offset’s streak of bad luck continues to take a serious turn, keeping him squarely in the headlines.
