Long before this week’s highly charged legal battle over tech giants and youth safety, Prince Harry has repeatedly stepped into the fray of public causes — from championing veterans and mental health to pushing for stronger online-safety protections through his Archewell philanthropic work. Now, in Los Angeles, he stood among grieving parents with palpable emotion, echoing years of advocacy as a watershed moment in the fight against online harm.

During his unannounced visit to Los Angeles on February 11, 2026, the Duke of Sussex met the grieving parents who lost their children to online harm.

"None of you should be here," said Prince Harry, fighting back his tears in the video clip shared by BBC Breakfast, addressing the families, resonating with the pain, loss, and frustration the parents faced.

"We've said time and time again that this is a David versus Goliath situation. I've been in some similar situations myself," he continued, sharing his experience in the courtroom battle. According to the Daily Mail, Meghan Markle was also present there but was not photographed.

The parents had gathered to campaign and press for answers from the tech platforms, arguing that unsafe algorithms and exposure to harmful content contributed to harmful effects on children, with some even losing their lives. The jury trial is underway this week, with Meta-owned Instagram and Google-owned YouTube facing scrutiny over how their platforms are designed and whether they harm young users.

Other companies like TikTok and Snapchat were originally part of the lawsuit but reportedly reached settlements and are no longer active defendants in this particular trial.

For Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, this is not the first time they have stood for a righteous cause. The couple has successfully created a safe space for parents through The Parents' Network under Archewell since August 2024.

The statement also provides insights into countries like Australia, France, Denmark, and Spain that have already imposed bans on the usage of online platforms for teens. It also states that this ban is not the only key to solving the problem and that the platforms need to stop using teens to extract their data.

Archewell Foundation operates on a broader spectrum, focusing on vulnerable communities, mental health, and compassionate action, supporting changemakers and advocates.
