For over a decade now, Taylor Swift and Prince William have been friends. What started as a casual meetup at a charity event in 2013 became something more meaningful when a free-spirited Swift invited The Prince of Wales to the stage to sing with her. Uncharacteristic of his instincts, he agreed, and from there they started their friendship. Now, after a decade of knowing each other, when the royal couple did not show up to her wedding, it was a shocker.

But recent reports reveal that Prince William and Kate Middleton did meet up with Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce secretly before their wedding, per a report by PEOPLE. Apparently, this meeting happened in London in a private setting. Swift and Kelce were probably in England in May when the meeting took place. 

At that point, Prince William talked about appearing on the New Heights podcast, which the tight end of the Kansas City Chiefs and his brother Jason Kelce co-host. In a radio interview that month, Prince William hinted that he and Kate would attend Swift and Kelce's July 3 wedding at Madison Square Garden in New York. He smiled and said, "No comment," when asked if he had received an invitation, which made everyone in the studio chuckle. 

On June 30, PEOPLE disclosed that the royal couple would not be present at the wedding. The unexpected New Heights podcast episode, which was aired just hours before the wedding ceremony, alluded to the covert reunion between Swift, Kelce, Prince William, and Kate Middleton, which was first revealed by The Telegraph.

Actually, their meeting with the royal couple was not the first time the celebrity couple met with royalty.

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce met with Prince William and his kids - Prince George and Princess Charlotte - at one of Swift’s  Eras Tour nights at Wembley Stadium, London, in June 2024. They all clicked a few selfies together, and Kelce even interacted with the kids for a brief moment. He recalled his interaction in his podcast with Prince William. 

He said jokingly that he was so nervous to greet them as he did not know what the proper way was, like if he was supposed to bow to them or just shake their hands, saying “Sup, dude,” in a typical American fashion. He just wanted to be polite to them. After sharing such a rapport with each other, it would be expected that the royal couple would have attended their big day. But they compensated for it with their pre-wedding meeting in London.
