The Duffer Brothers are savoring their final moments of teasing the Stranger Things finale, delighting fans who have followed the series for nearly a decade. Nearly ten years of Eleven’s telekinetic heroics culminate with the finale on New Year’s Eve 2025. With Volume Two now unleashed, The Duffer Brothers reveal their contentment with the finale and what fans should expect.

The Duffer Brothers revealed that they had decided the ending of Stranger Things years in advance, even before breaking Season Five. From the very first moment of planning, Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer knew exactly how the final scene would unfold. Their goal was to ensure that everything in the series built toward this pivotal moment.

"We feel really happy with how the show ended up," Ross Duffer explained in a talk with The Hollywood Reporter.

He emphasized that the last scene had been a vision for years and that Season Five was structured around making it work. The Duffer Brothers expressed pride in both the scene itself and the performances delivered by the cast.

Furthermore, Matt Duffer confessed that pleasing everyone was a near impossibility, given the variety of fans. Some care about Eleven’s powers, others about the Upside Down’s horrors, and some simply adore nostalgic references. He revealed to The Hollywood Reporter that the creators trusted their instincts and longtime writing collaborators instead of chasing approval.

The Duffer Brothers drew solace from the cast’s connection to their characters. Witnessing these performances first-hand convinced them that viewers would feel the emotional weight of Hawkins’ fate. In short, according to what The Duffer Brothers said, the New Year’s Eve finale promises closure, chills, and a final bow after nine extraordinary years.

Fans prepare for the Stranger Things finale over New Year’s festivities, with only teases from the cast and creators to live off of.

A collection of hints about the Stranger Things finale

Hints from the Duffer Brothers and cast suggest a finale full of peril and revelation. Starting off with Will, the Duffer brothers have confirmed in multiple interviews, such as with Variety, that Byers will play a central role in the finale. Confronting the hive mind that first possessed him in 1983 and using his connection to challenge Vecna makes him essential to the finale.

Ross Duffer and Matt Duffer also indicated that Eleven’s lost sister plotline with Kali (008) will reach a resolution. As for Eleven's fate, Millie Bobby Brown suggested that she will act from courage and choice. In the end, she will protect her friends and the town rather than being defined by past trauma.

In addition, Caleb McLaughlin described the finale as ambitious and expansive, calling it 'Zenith' during The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. He revealed that the episode features sprawling sets and high-intensity action sequences, pushing the series to its most cinematic scale yet.
