More than 60 years after her death, Marilyn Monroe continues to fascinate fans across the world. Recently, to celebrate what would have been the Hollywood icon’s 100th birthday, thousands of admirers united to honor her legacy. People came dressed in Monroe-style costumes and signature blonde hairdos, making the event a historic spectacle that soon drew national attention.
On May 30, around 1,037 Marilyn Monroe lookalikes gathered in Palm Springs to honor the Hollywood icon. Dressed in blonde wigs, red lipstick, and Monroe-inspired outfits, the participants turned the celebration into a record-breaking event. The event, organized by Greater Palm Springs Pride, was designed to make a “sea of white dresses and blonde curls” in honor of the star’s legacy.
People gathered around the towering Forever Marilyn statue and recreated Monroe's iconic look from the 1955 film The Seven Year Itch. The tribute showed how Monroe remains a cultural icon, inspiring fans across the globe more than six decades after her death. It also beat the previous Guinness World Record for most Monroe lookalikes.
They were hoping to get 500 volunteers to come to the event. The previous record for the number of Monroe look-alikes was 254, set in Brighton, Australia, in 2020. The gathering showcased not just Monroe’s ongoing cultural impact but also hit a milestone, setting a new record that even seasoned fans were surprised by.
The major turnout highlighted Monroe’s enduring influence nearly a century after her birth.
