The Housemaid tidied up the box office with numbers stacked upon numbers. Providing clean success for Sydney Sweeney in the film, there is more than a decent chance of her getting back to work.

Freida McFadden's The Housemaid earned itself a sequel in 2023. As the new year has commenced, Sydney Sweeney might be helming that very book sequel's path to the screen.

Adam Fogelson has, in fact, greenlit an adaptation of McFadden's book, The Housemaid's Secret, with production beginning later this year, as per Variety. With the film grossing $133 million in just its initial weeks, a sequel seemed a fit decision to Lionsgate.

"We are beyond excited to bring the next chapter of Millie’s story to life on-screen," Fogelson started, as per Variety. Director Paul Freig is also set to make a return alongside Sweeney.

The Housmaid followed Millie as she made her way through life with the Winchesters. Her discoveries about the family's dark secret formed the thriller part of the film.

The Housemaid's Secrets follows McFadden's first book and opens with Millie's return to the US after running away from her previous employers. She once again finds herself working for a family with unusual rules and regulations that surface as even darker secrets.

The Housemaid is now set for another run soon. With Sydney Sweeney returning to don Millie, the streak for dark discoveries is sure to continue.
