RJ Mitte, best known for his role on Breaking Bad, has died, his representatives announced Monday

Breaking Bad co-star Bryan Cranston (who played Walter White on the series, making Mitte his on-screen son) shared a tribute to the actor following news of his death:

Mitte, born August 21, 1992 in Jackson, Mississippi, rose to fame for his role on the AMC drama. Diagnosed with cerebral palsy when he was just three years old, Mitte played Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston’s son (and Walter White Jr., son of drug kingpin Walter White (Cranston) and his wife Skyler White (Anna Gunn)) in the series from its 2008 premiere to its finale in 2013.

According to a statement from his reps, his experience of living with the condition added a level of authenticity to his role as Walter White Jr. He also had a recurring role in season three of Switched at Birth as Campbell Bingman, and made appearances on Now Apocalypse, This Close, Chance, and Vegas, among other titles, as well as in The Guardians of Justice and The Oak Room.

In addition to acting, Mitte was a longtime advocate for disability awareness and inclusion. He served as ambassador for Shriners Children’s and United Cerebral Palsy, as well as a Screen Actors Guild spokesman, representing actors with disabilities. He was also the president of The Mitte Foundation, which backs community and philanthropic efforts.

Earlier this month, on The Joe Vulpis Podcast, he discussed his original Breaking Bad audition. He was also promoting his latest film, Talking to Strangers, which screened in Beverly Hills on September 30. Several of his other projects are also currently in development and in production.

People reported that he resided in Brownsville, Texas, where police responded to a call in the afternoon and discovered the Breaking Bad actor at his home. Per TMZ, authorities said that the investigation into his death is ongoing.
