When he is not posing as a warrior in a dimension stuck in the 1700s, Sam Heughan humors the Embassy. He is now brushing shoulders with the likes of Anna Kendrick and J.K. Simmons.

Production studio AGC Television merged the genres of geopolitical rifts and thrillers, coming up with Embassy in late 2025. Now, in 2026, Outlander star Sam Heughan has joined the project as one-third of the main cast, as per Deadline.

Sam Heughan's filmography beyond Outlander ranges from family romances like A Princess for Christmas to docuseries honoring his heritage like the 2021-2023 running Men in Kilts. First Flight, Young Alexander the Great, and Island at War are some more works featuring Heughan.

Heughan will don the role of Layla's (Anna Kendrick) ex-fiancé, joining her in a high-stakes operation for the U.S Embassy, as per Deadline. The actor will be joining the show right after the eighth and final season of Outlander, set to drop on March 6, 2026.

Heughan's two-decade-long portfolio is just perfect for Embassy's thrilling plot.

Everything to know about the Embassy

The crux of Embassy reads as a geopolitical, fast-paced thriller. The story will revolve around the heist of London's US Embassy and Layla, played by Anna Kendrick, at its center of gravity.

Rom Lotan and John Strickland act as the writer and director of the show. Ascendant Fox’s Hester Ruoff, Bart Ruspoli, and Matt Mitchell will act as executive producers alongside the former two.

Sam Heughan is all set for the foreseeable future after Outlander. As AGC Television turns up the anticipation for Embassy, details come to light one by one.
