Scary Movie 6 is already shaping up to be a major throwback, and the latest casting update brings yet another surprise. Damon Wayans has confirmed that there will be a number of cameo appearances in the movie from the next generation of the Wayans family. The update teases a new family-centric layer to the franchise while keeping one of comedy’s biggest names closely associated with its return. 

During a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight on the set of Scary Movie 6, Damon Wayans introduced another member of the Wayans family joining the film. He also opened up about bringing the next generation into the franchise. The newest actor to join the film was his nephew. 

“I’m going to introduce you to another Wayans, because there’s more. This one is special because he’s my older sister’s son. This is Greg Wayans,” Marlon joked while introducing Greg Wayans on set. He then added, “You think this is nepotism? Nah, you gotta earn your stripes in here.”

For the unphased, in Scary Movie 6, Marlon and Shawn Wayans return, bringing the franchise back to its original family. The first two Scary Movie films were driven by the Wayans brothers, who helped define the franchise’s parody style. The return of the original cast in the sixth installment is a huge full-circle moment.

More than two decade after the last installment, Scary Movie 6 is bringing back the horror-comedy franchise, with the Wayans family back in the creative fold for the first time since Scary Movie 2. In the new story, the gang, including Cindy Campbell, is reunited when a masked k***** from their past resurfaces. Early details also hint that the film will spoof modern horror hits like M3GAN, Scream, and The Substance.

The cast is a mix of familiar franchise faces and new ones. Anna Faris and Regina Hall return, along with Marlon Wayans and Shawn Wayans. This also includes Damon Wayans Jr., Kim Wayans, Cheri Oteri, Chris Elliott, Dave Sheridan, and Lochlyn Munro. 

It is scheduled to be released in theaters by Paramount Pictures on June 5, 2026. Scary Movie 6, directed by Michael Tiddes, is being marketed as a nostalgic return and modern reboot of the franchise’s parody formula. With the original creative team back and with a new set of horror references to play off of, it is one of the most anticipated comedy returns of the year.

Meanwhile, the return of the Wayans family for Scary Movie 6 feels like more than just another sequel.
