Few modern comic writers have reshaped the superhero landscape quite like Scott Snyder. From redefining Gotham’s darkest corners to building ambitious new continuities, Snyder has consistently pushed boundaries. Now, with DC’s bold Absolute line gaining momentum, fans have been wondering just how long this reimagined universe can sustain its explosive storytelling.

That question has finally been addressed. Scott Snyder confirmed there’s no planned end to the Absolute Universe, making it clear that its future rests entirely in readers’ hands.

“Until you guys stop reading them we have no plans to end it,” said Scott Snyder at the Absolute Universe Panel at MegaCon on March 21, cementing the line’s open-ended future and ongoing expansion.

The statement reflects the strong reception the Absolute titles have enjoyed since launch. Books like Absolute Batman, Absolute Superman, and Absolute Wonder Woman have carved out a distinct identity, leaner, darker, and more character-driven than traditional continuity. With long-term creative plans reportedly stretching across dozens of issues, the line is being built with longevity in mind rather than a fixed endpoint.

As the universe continues to grow without limits, its next wave of character reinventions is already generating buzz, especially within Absolute Batman, where major changes are on the horizon.

New villain designs teased by Scott Snyder for Absolute Batman

That long-term vision is already translating into exciting developments within the flagship series. Recent reveals tied to Absolute Batman have sparked buzz, especially around the redesigned looks of classic villains like Two-Face and Penguin.

“These are two of my favorites. Penguin still has some surprises to them. We haven’t revealed yet, different crutches, more style, and jewelry and such :),” Snyder said in the comments once the covers dropped.

Meanwhile, Two-Face draws inspiration from classic animated portrayals while introducing unsettling new traits, like using his long hair to conceal different sides of his fractured identity. With artist Nick Dragotta helping shape these designs, the series continues to redefine familiar characters in bold ways.
