The Hollywood Reporter Heat Vision newsletter confirmed long-circulating rumors about Sebastian Stan joining The Batman Part II. Casting Stan as Harvey Dent acts as a major pivot, placing a Marvel fixture inside Matt Reeves’s Gotham with a role rooted in law, tragedy, and corruption.

Stan’s destination, Harvey Dent, is Gotham’s golden District Attorney before fate intervened with acid and irony. First seen in Detective Comics #66, Dent began as Batman’s ally before a courtroom acid attack shatters his face and psyche, turning civic virtue into calculated menace. Sort of a reverse Bucky.

According to The Heat Vision, Stan will be set to play the Harvey Dent, whose fixation on duality defined his mythology, from moral absolutism to chance-based judgment. Ruled by a damaged coin and sharpened by law and violence, Two-Face even manages to secure a Gotham City villain’s ultimate promotion: ending up at Batman's rogue gallery.

The news follows Scarlett Johansson’s reported involvement in The Batman Part II, according to Nexus Point News. If Jeff Sneider’s claim that Johansson plays Harvey Dent’s wife proves accurate, Marvel-era Bucky Barnes and Black Widow shippers may witness a striking DC-world echo.

While it is set in stone that Scarlett Johansson will not be sneaking back her way into the MCU, one wonders if it's the same for Sebastian Stan

Does this mean Sebastian Stan is leaving Marvel for good?

Sebastian Stan joining The Batman: Part II as Harvey Dent does not automatically signal a permanent exit from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Actors frequently navigate both franchises, as seen with Jeffrey Wright and Barry Keoghan, without immediate contractual severance.

Still, schedules have a way of revealing intentions. Stan remains booked for Avengers: Doomsday in December 2026, yet his Marvel contract is reportedly approaching its final curtain call.

Rumors of Bucky Barnes meeting a noble or catastrophic end in Avengers: Doomsday have gained traction, which may not be untrue, looking at Marvel's previous records. These rumors conveniently align with Stan’s comments on the Stronger Podcast about needing to offer something different in his career.

Thus, Gotham feels less like a side project and more like a relocation. Stan may not exit the Marvel Cinematic Universe immediately, but Harvey Dent appears poised to take over the Winter Soldier.
