Tori Spelling is embracing her status as a ‘90s fashion icon and says she is ready to reconnect with the style roots that first made her a trendsetter. Best known for playing Donna Martin on Beverly Hills, 90210, the actress recently reflected on her love for fashion while attending the World Accreditation Celebration for Calamigos Ranch Resort & Spa in Malibu, California.

"I think I was kind of an OG fashion starter, and I want to continue that,” she tells PEOPLE while attending the World Accreditation Celebration for Calamigos Ranch Resort & Spa in Malibu.

“Fashion is about how it makes you feel. I think it's about finding your unique perspective. It can be anything.I love reinventing myself through fashion, and it's something that gives me passion inside," she continued.

The actress also credited her upbringing for shaping her style sensibilities. As the daughter of legendary television producer Aaron Spelling and author Candy Spelling, Spelling grew up surrounded by glamour, Hollywood sets, and iconic television fashion moments that eventually influenced her own public image.

With ‘90s nostalgia making a huge comeback, Spelling added that she is excited to step into what she calls “Tori 2.0.” She noted that revisiting old trends alongside her teenage children has been both nostalgic and inspiring, especially as a new generation discovers the fashion and pop culture moments that defined her era.

The renewed spotlight on Spelling’s past also comes as she recently revisited memories from her Beverly Hills, 90210 days, including an awkward reunion with former co-star Hilary Swank years after the show.

During an episode of the 90210MG podcast with Jennie Garth, Tori Spelling opened up about unexpectedly crossing paths with Hillary Swank years after they worked together on Beverly Hills, 90210. Swank had briefly appeared on the series as Carly Reynolds before exiting after just 16 episodes.

“So after that, after she left the show, just because, you know, we were always going at lightning speed and you hung out with whoever you were working with, I didn't see her for years,” Spelling said to Jennie Garth on the April 17 episode of their 90210MG podcast.

Spelling later recalled running into the Oscar-winning actress at a Marc Jacobs Fashion Week event in New York. According to her, photographers attempted to capture a “90210 reunion” moment, but Swank politely declined before walking away. While Spelling admitted there could have been many reasons behind the interaction, she confessed the moment stayed with her over the years.

Despite occasional awkward Hollywood memories and years of scrutiny over her appearance, Spelling continues to embrace her public image with confidence. From revisiting ‘90s fashion trends to redefining herself for a new era, the actress appears determined to fully own her legacy as one of television’s most recognizable style figures.
