Sega and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio have officially revealed new gameplay footage for Stranger Than Heaven, and the biggest surprise is Snoop Dogg stepping into the game’s brutal underworld. The rapper voices Orpheus, a slick international smuggler tied to the story’s underworld.

The latest footage showcases cinematic street fights, period-inspired Japanese cities, and the gritty storytelling style fans associate with the Yakuza franchise. While it is a new IP, the game clearly carries strong Yakuza and Like a Dragon DNA.

The reveal follows a recent trailer featuring the game’s original song with Snoop Dogg, Tori Kelly, Satoshi Fujihara, and Ado. The trailer also introduced Orpheus aboard a ship bringing the protagonists to Japan while teasing the game’s darker driven themes.

The story spans major cities including Osaka, Tokyo, and Hiroshima, with protagonist Yu Shirota’s Makoto Daito navigating dangerous rival groups, intense street battles, and shifting social landscapes.

RGG Studio has also teased gameplay systems involving both fast-paced combat and musical performance elements, giving the title a unique identity beyond traditional action games. Gameplay footage revealed the studio’s signature hand-to-hand fighting style with updated mechanics reportedly inspired by “split-body” combat systems.
