Stranger Things' ending has divided the fans into groups with many beliefs. While some hail the creators, others do not. Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer, on the other hand, believed in diving in unplanned.

Netflix bid its final farewell to Stranger Things on December 31, 2025. Since then, the finale of season 5 has reached many conclusions, one of which turns out to be its initial non-existence.

In One Last Adventure: The Making of Stranger Things 5, Matt Duffer revealed the finale's script had not been planned while going into season 5's production. Their fear of getting the ending right actually might have kept them from finalizing it, then.

"We went into production without having a finished script for the finale," Duffer said in the documentary. The documentary also displayed the creative push and pull between the creators while deciding Eleven's symbolic fate.

The ending may or may not have been planned, but the actors who brought the genius to life were ready with their goodbyes.

Cast bids Stranger Things a farewell

No matter the size of the part, being on Stranger Things was bound to affect anyone involved. For the main cast that played a hand bigger than they realized, the show had become an entire lifetime.

Millie Bobby Brown's farewell, for example, spanned across the release of the two Volumes. From Jamie Campbell Bower to Noah Schnapp, each of the actors has shared their part of the Stranger Things effect, too.

Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer kept the spirit of the finale alive with their prolonging of its finalization. It was probably not the delivery that they feared, but their own need for the perfect final episode.
