Stranger Things' fifth season had very staunchly made tying all threads its USP. However, there seems to be not only a plot hole left, but also an actor left out on the dole.

Actress Jennifer Marshall joined the Stranger Things cast as Susan Hargrove in season 2. While she persisted through to Season 4, her absence in Season 5 raised questions.

The actress came forth herself, revealing she was diagnosed with cancer and was in remission during the shooting of season 5, and was not called back. She shared on Instagram that the callback could have helped finance her health insurance during that time.

"Shooting would have helped me obtain my health insurance," Marshall stated via social media. Her statement did not carry any sentiments of malice; rather, it seemed the actress was pondering over Susan's strange absence from Max's side.

Susan Hargrove, however, was not the only non-reappearing character in the finale.

The non-returning cast of Stranger Things

The Stranger Things finale may have been the most anticipated in Netflix's history, courtesy of the teasing and prolonging. However, it does not hold being the best in terms of properly tying fates up.

Actress Aimee Mullins and Gabriella Pizzolo joined Jennifer Marshall in the absent cast of the show. They had played Eleven's biological mother, Terry Ives, and Suzie Bingham, respectively.

Eduardo Franco and Paul Reiser are also noted to not have returned for the finale. They played the season 4's beloved Argyle and Dr. Sam Owens, respectively.

Stranger Things itself has tied itself up tight on December 31, 2025. Armed with a decade-long history and plotholes slightly more in number, the show has been done and dusted for good.
