Video game adaptations continue gaining momentum in Hollywood as studios revisit some of gaming’s most recognizable worlds. Among them is Street Fighter, the legendary fighting franchise that helped define early 1990s arcade culture, and its upcoming live-action project has now surfaced with a first teaser preview.

The upcoming live-action adaptation of the Street Fighter franchise has officially revealed its first footage during a surprise reveal at The Game Awards, giving audiences an early glimpse of the film’s action-driven approach.

The teaser highlighted stylized combat and briefly recreated the classic car-smashing bonus stage from the games. The preview also confirmed that the movie is scheduled to arrive in theaters worldwide on October 16, 2026.

The film brings together a large ensemble cast portraying several recognizable fighters from the franchise. Andrew Koji leads as Ryu while Noah Centineo appears as Ken.

Callina Liang plays Chun-Li and David Dastmalchian takes on the villainous M. Bison. The lineup also includes Jason Momoa, Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes, and Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson.

While the star-studded lineup drew attention, the teaser hinted that the filmmakers are prioritizing authentic fighting action above spectacle.

The preview of Street Fighter leaned heavily into martial arts choreography, emphasizing practical combat and tightly staged fight sequences between fighters.

Quick shots showcased intense one-on-one battles designed to mirror the competitive feel of the games. Production for the film began in August 2025 in Australia, where large-scale sets and stunt-driven action sequences are being developed for the project.

Street Fighter reportedly leans into a retro 1990s aesthetic through its visual design and tone. Practical stunts combined with modern visual effects are expected to power the action ahead of its October 2026 theatrical release.
