The Housemaid has broken quite a few barriers, from ending Sydney Sweeney's box-office draught to pushing Lionsgate back to the top. However, one of these things might have not happened if it was not for Taylor Swift's approval.

Sydney Sweeney's recent hit, The Housemade, premiered on December 19, 2025. At the premiere red carpet, director Paul Feig revealed how the perfectly orchestrated ending to the film teetered on Taylor Swift's approval of her song's usage.

"You want to put a Taylor song in your movie, but she and her company have to approve it," Feig told Deadline. The director was referring to Swift's 'I Did Something Bad' from her sixth album 'Reputation' which appears over the closing credits of the film.

The Housemaid's thriller mystery and the track's connotation of having done something morally skewed, were the perfect fit to Paul Feig. Yet, he had his reservations.

"We were like, ‘It’s so perfect, but she’s never gonna clear this'," he shared with Deadline. Regardless, the completed version of the film sent to the singer came back with full and swift approval.

While Paul Feig had his doubts about getting a Taylor Swift song on his film, Sydney Sweeney, on the one hand, had complete faith in the song's perfection.

The Housemaid's star Sydney Sweeney more than just approves of 'I Did Something Bad' in the film. Speaking to PEOPLE, the actress revealed she pleaded with the director to keep the track despite the rarity.

 "We were like, 'We can't lose this!' she shared, having exclaimed after watching the complete movie and Amanda Seyfried, who stars alongside Sweeney, chimed in in agreement.

Taylor Swift's 'Reputation' gem adorns The Housemaid alongside artists like Lana Del Rey and Kelly Clarkson. The song's grey-indulging baritones have orchestrated a legendary closing for the film.
