Taylor Swift Works Her Magic by Crowning Her Recent Singles Bestsellers Once Again

Apr 13, 2026, 12:44 AM CUT

Taylor Swift is once again turning 2026 into her personal spotlight, rewriting headlines one buzz at a time. She entered the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2026 as the youngest songwriter ever, while wedding rumors fuel chatter. Being an evergreen headliner, Swift has once again made headlines by sending two of her recent singles back to the top.

Taylor Swift turns the Digital Song Sales chart into her familiar playground again, reclaiming attention with a double reentry that fans instantly recognize. 'The Fate of Ophelia' leads the comeback at No. 17, while 'Opalite' follows at No. 19. Between them sits 'Iris' by Goo Goo Dolls at No. 18.

Sales margins in the Digital Song Sales chart remain razor-thin, as Swift’s two entries compete almost note-for-note in digital purchases. Luminate reports 'The Fate of Ophelia' moved just under 1,600 downloads, narrowly ahead of 'Opalite' at slightly below 1,550. Only a few dozen sales separate the two.

Swift’s dominance extends far beyond weekly rebounds, as her Digital Song Sales legacy continues to expand with unmatched consistency. Both 'The Fate of Ophelia' and 'Opalite' add to her record setting total of 31 chart toppers, the most achieved by any artist. No other act has reached even 20 leaders on the list.

This is also not the first time the two songs have made headlines since they were released.

The records made by the two Taylor Swift songs

Taylor Swift’s 'The Fate of Ophelia' has rewritten the upper tier of global pop records, becoming her longest-running No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. It spent 10 weeks at the summit, surpassing 'Anti-Hero', which previously held eight weeks. The single redefined her peak era in mainstream chart performance.

On Spotify, 'The Fate of Ophelia' set a historic benchmark, recording over 30.9 million streams in a single day and breaking the all time weekly streaming record previously held by Miley Cyrus’s 'Flowers'. It also became Swift’s fastest track to reach 1.2 billion Spotify streams. Additionally, it debuted at No. 8 on Pop Airplay charts.

'Opalite' reads like a chart poem that refuses to leave the Billboard Hot 100 Top 10, holding its place for more than 17 consecutive weeks after debuting at No. 2. Its music video becomes an event in itself, boosted by cameos from Cillian Murphy, Domhnall Gleeson, and Graham Norton. Now, aside from its unique blue pearlescent vinyl, the song has once again proven how much fans love it.
