Jon Favreau has admitted to holding a healthy concern about artificial intelligence's growing role in Hollywood. The Mandalorian and Grogu director recently opened up about artificial intelligence, offering a measured but pointed perspective. His remarks cut through the noise of an industry still figuring out where exactly the technology fits in.

Jon Favreau has a measured but firm stance on artificial intelligence in Hollywood. While speaking to CBS Sunday Morning correspondent Tracy Smith, he acknowledged that technological disruption is nothing new, but that does not make it any less significant. The five-time Emmy nominee made clear that the conversation around artificial intelligence must be handled with both transparency and responsibility.

"I think each generation faces different challenges around technology; even positive technologies are disruptive," Favreau shared during his CBS Sunday Morning appearance.

He then added, "Trying to avoid innovation doesn't seem to be a winning strategy, but helping to have transparency when using new technologies, understanding as best we could the ramifications of them," emphasizing that responsibility must walk alongside progress.

Favreau stressed that the artificial intelligence conversation extends well beyond Hollywood. Society, he added, benefits from diverse perspectives as these changes work their way through every field.

"Life has improved, but there are always unintended consequences if anything novel is embraced without being thoughtful about it," he said, a reminder that caution is not resistance; it is wisdom.

While Favreau urges measured thinking, the rest of Hollywood is anything but measured in its response.

Hollywood is divided on AI

Hollywood has split sharply on the artificial intelligence question. Seth Rogen dismissed it as "stupid dog s***" at the Cannes Film Festival, while Hannah Einbinder labeled those who use it "losers" in a candid interview with SlashFilm. On the opposite end, Darren Aronofsky, through his AI-focused studio Primordial Soup and Natasha Lyonne through her co-founded ethical AI studio Asteria, have openly embraced the technology.

Stars including Demi Moore, Sandra Bullock, and Reese Witherspoon have gone further in various industry panels and media interviews, calling artificial intelligence's rise inevitable. The divide is loud, opinionated, and showing no signs of quieting down. And somewhere in the middle of it all, standing thoughtful and measured while the rest of Hollywood picks sides, there is Jon Favreau.
