Donald Trump has confirmed he will skip next month’s Super Bowl in San Francisco, citing the long journey before turning his attention elsewhere. Speaking to The New York Post, the president criticized Green Day and Bad Bunny as Super Bowl performers. He took aim at the opening ceremony and halftime show, framing the selections as divisive and unnecessary. 

“I’m anti-them. I think it’s a terrible choice. All it does is sow hatred. Terrible,” Trump said to the New York Post.

He noted the artists oppose his administration, then clarified that distance, not performers, is why he will skip the Super Bowl.

Donald Trump further said he would consider attending the Super Bowl if the travel were shorter, before turning attention to the performers. Bad Bunny has repeatedly criticized him through music, even releasing a song mocking his immigration stance. 

Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong has publicly condemned Trump-era politics and supported anti-deportation protests, making both artists outspoken opponents of his views. With the political tension now clear, attention turns to the event itself and when the Super Bowl will take place.
