Queens of the British Royal family have often taken up hunting as a pastime. The Crown's queen Claire Foy, however, seems to have taken up falconry for a different reason in H is for Hawk.

H is for Hawk received a limited and selective film festival run back in 2025. Come 2026, the movie is set to be released widely on January 23, 2026.

Ahead of the wider theatrical run, the film's first exclusive clip has given a glimpse into what the title of the film actually stands for. In a poised exchange, Claire Foy's character, Helen Macdonald, tries to answer whether the bond with their Hawk, a predator bird used in falconry, is that of affection.

Foy's fanbase from The Crown is set to see the 41-year-old actress in a starkly different guise in H is for Hawk. Where she once donned a glittering crown, Foy will now be portraying a grieving daughter with a Goshawk.

Claire Foy's grief-stricken character, on the other hand, is not very far from reality.

H is for Hawk, really

The Emmy-winning Claire Foy has embraced Helen Macdonald, the real-life author, whose original memoir H is for Hawk takes after. The memoir's premise, which the film follows, centers on Macdonald after the loss of their father in 2007.

Claire Foy's portrayal looks as striking as the hawk attached to her wrist in the exclusive clip. Come January 23, H is for Hawk will display her finesse for the wider audience.
