Regardless of the authority, The Crown's starring lady has assumed silence to be a royal duty as well. The on-screen Queen Elizabeth II knows better than to make noise.

Claire Foy has not only acted out the British Queen in her younger days, but also learnt the etiquette of not giving a speech. The actress revealed her self-taught manner of steering clear of discourses that fall outside her profession.

"If you’re just making noise for the sake of it, then you should probably shut up – so I tend to shut up," she stated in her interview with Harper's Bazaar. The actress reflected an understanding of how her beliefs can act as showbiz currency, earning praise from many fans.

"I have absolutely no authority to discuss or proclaim about anything other than what I do as an actor," she told Harper's Bazaar. Foy, who does not have a social media account, stated these as reasons for her avoidance of being opinionated, unless required.

Now 41, Foy's poise with which she treats her right to speech is akin to her very definitive role of Queen Elizabeth.

Queen Claire Foy of Netflix's The Crown

Claire Foy was cast in The Crown to portray Queen Elizabeth II for the first two seasons in 2014. She was later shifted to a featured cast, as a younger Queen Elizabeth II, alongside Olivia Colman and Imelda Staunton in later seasons.

Foy now stands as a Golden Globe, Emmy, and Screen Actors' Guild awardee for her role on the show. Outside of The Crown, Foy's roles in Breathe, Unsane, and  First Man have had her nominated as well.

Queen or not, Claire Foy knows the value and weight of her words. Choosing them lightly and wisely, the on-screen royalty has made her decision to stay out of public matters for now.
