Stranger Things is fast approaching its much-awaited, yet difficult end. While it is hard for the audience to see the portal of horror close up, it is not as scary as it may be confusing.

Season five of Stranger Things had its second part released on December 25, 2025. With the drop came, not questions, but uncertainty for Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer to clear.

In an interview with Variety, the creators of the show revealed the answers to several of the episode fogs. To begin with, Nancy and Jonathan, in fact, did not get engaged.

"We always felt that at the end of the day, they need to let each other go in order to grow as people," Matt Duffer told Variety. The statement rebukes all speculations of Nancy choosing to marry in season 5's Volume 2.

Similarly, talking about Will Byers' identity, the character not explicitly labeling himself caused a stir. However, the Duffer Brothers confirmed the ambiguity to be the scene's uniqueness.

Will and Jonathan have let go of two different things. Eleven, Eight, and the Hawkins troop have more pressing matters to tend.

The fate of Hawkins in Stranger Things season 5

While on the topic, Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer confirmed the expanse of Upside Down as only a bridge to the larger picture. They revealed that it is a supernatural bridge connecting Hawkins to a parallel called the Abyss, as per Netflix Tudum.

Moreover, Steve Harrington's Jack and the Beanstalk-inspired plan is just as endgame as the truth. The final episode will follow suit of Eleven as she prepares to overtake Vecna mentally.

Operation Beanstalk may be on, but it seems Eleven and Eight know their way around the Abyss better. As Volume 2 drew to a pause, the pair seemed to share a mutual agreement to stay behind in the mess, or Upside Down that Eleven created.

With Ross Duffer stating Kali, or Eight, symbolizing an opposition to Mike's hopeful attitude, she and Eleven most probably have a real plan ahead of the finale. Stranger Things is set to come to an end on December 31, 2025.
