The dystopia that The Handmaid’s Tale hinted at inches closer to reality, virtual, of course. Anticipation for the rebellion-filled sequel has softened its looming regime, granted mercy at last by a release date.

In May 2025, onlookers had bid farewell to the Gilead regime through June Osborne. While her story had come a full circle, the totalitarian regime remained to be tackled by future heroines. They, in a future titled The Testaments.

Come 2026, the show's streaming proprietor, Hulu, has set April 8, 2026, as the release date of The Testaments, as per various outlets. The sequel's premiere will be marked by three episodes, before assuming a regular weekly schedule.

The Handmaid's Tale, following Margaret Atwood's novel, depicted life during the Gilead regime and the eventual realization of its atrocities. The Testaments, on the other hand, is set to expose the irregularities within the regime, and follows the resistance that leads to its collapse, fifteen years later.

Falling in line with the tumultuous tale, the faces that will don the characters of the book are just as intriguing.

Cast of the sequel, The Testaments

Playing the daughter of Elizabeth Moss' Offred/June Osborne, Chase Infiniti assumes the main character position with Agnes/Hannah. Lucy Halliday plays Daisy, and Ann Dowd plays Aunt Lydia.

Mabel Li, Amy Seimetz, Brad Alexander, Rowan Blanchard, and Mattea Conforti also form the cast lineup of The Testaments. Zarrin Darnell-Martin, Eva Foote, Isolde Ardies, Shechinah Mpumlwana, Birva Pandya, and Kira Guloien round up the cast, as well.

The Testaments also brings back The Handmaid's Tale's Bruce Miller as creator and executive producer. Produced by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) Television, this sequel's release will spread the Gilead regime further and thinner to the point of downfall, finally.
