“The Magic of the Beatles”- Ethan Hawke Shuts Down All “Best Beatle” Debates in a Single Take

Almost every turn of life requires weighing the best and the worst. But when it comes to falling in love with The Beatles, Ethan Hawke recommends we rather not.

Ethan Hawke, 55, is not a day past being a die-hard Beatlemaniac. But to pick a favorite Beatle, the Before Sunrise actor has his reservations.

"There is no such thing as the best Beatle," Hawke argued on the 505th episode of Subway Takes. According to him, the charm of The Beatles did not come from one single member of the rock band.

"The magic of The Beatles is because of the chemistry," he continued. He explained that the connection each of the Beatles had with each other is what created the sensation they stand for today.

"To say I have a favorite Beatle is to say I have a favorite ventricle of my heart," Hawke analogised. Born in the year that the four-member band famously disbanded, Hawke has maintained his fervor for The Beatles to this day.

Hawke himself is no stranger to becoming a sensation, even if streamed.

Ethan Hawke's recent streaming sensation

Ethan Hawke made his mark across Gen-X classics like Dead Poets Society, Reality Bites, and especially his triad of Richard Linklater collaborations. In recent times, the actor has been venturing into more, or rather, criminally more, dramatic roles.

His role is that of a citizen journalist in the neo-noir FX show The Lowdown. As of December 29, 2025, the 8-part show has ranked third on Disney+'s Top 10, according to Flix Patrol.

Ethan Hawke's understanding of phenomenalization not being an individual effort has made him deny having a favorite Beatle. As the actor continues to shine his screen, he also vouches to keep The Beatles' chemistry alive.
