'The Super Mario Galaxy Movie' Post-Credits Scenes Reveal Big Plans for Nintendo’s Future

Apr 2, 2026, 4:15 AM CUT

After The Super Mario Bros. Movie stormed the global box office with a staggering $1.36 billion run, it became clear that Nintendo’s cinematic ambitions were never meant to stay confined to the Mushroom Kingdom. With The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, that world now expands beyond familiar pipes and power-ups, the film quietly left behind crucial breadcrumbs that fans were not expecting. With its mid-credits and post-credits scenes planting the seeds for what comes next, the franchise makes it clear that this is only the beginning of something much larger.

Revealing the first big plan for Nintendo’s future, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie finally delivers the long-awaited debut of Princess Daisy in its post-credits scene. Set in the Gateway Galaxy, she steps in just as Ukiki attempts another theft, instantly marking her presence in this expanding universe. First introduced in Super Mario Land, Daisy rules Sarasaland and stands as Princess Peach’s closest ally, while also sharing a key connection with Luigi.

Much like the 2023 film’s tease, this reveal feels far from incidental, strongly pointing toward Daisy stepping into a much larger role in the franchise’s future.

Adding to the momentum, Daisy’s arrival also ties neatly into long-standing fan hopes for a Luigi’s Mansion-inspired spin-off, especially after Luigi’s earlier hint about finding a match through Peach. While Nintendo has yet to confirm its next move, the setup feels deliberate, with Daisy’s debut acting as a clear bridge to future stories. Casting, however, remains open, though Mary Elizabeth Ellis emerges as a strong contender, especially given her real-life pairing with Charlie Day, who voices Luigi.

While Daisy’s future already shines bright within the franchise, Nintendo isn’t done yet, as its mid-credits moment drops another unexpected twist with Fox McCloud.

Will Fox McCloud circle back into Mario’s galaxy-spanning universe, and if so, when?

Within Mario Galaxy’s expanding world, Fox McCloud finally finds his way home as Princess Rosalina repairs his Arwing’s warp drive in the mid-credits scene of The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. Introduced as a key crossover presence and voiced by Glen Powell, Fox quickly moves beyond a brief appearance, stepping into a crucial role that brings the Lylat system into Mario’s galaxy-spanning narrative. With his origins and alliances already explored, a spin-off no longer feels like a stretch, but a natural next step.

Rather than closing his arc, this return only widens the horizon. His expanded role signals a clear push beyond the Mushroom Kingdom, opening the door for a full-fledged Star Fox film that could explore his reunion with Team Star Fox and take Nintendo’s cinematic universe even further.

With Daisy stepping in and Fox McCloud flying home, Mario’s galaxy-spanning adventure looks ready to pull fans once again into an even bigger, uncharted world.
