The Weeknd became one of the defining stories of 2025, a year when music seemed determined to outdo itself at every turn. Global recorded-music revenues surged, paid streaming subscriptions crossed 500 million, and stadium tours became larger than ever, with names like Taylor Swift drawing enormous crowds. Amid all that noise, The Weeknd stood out, proving he may have made more than history with an eye-popping $298 million haul.

According to Forbes' Highest-Paid Musicians list, The Weeknd, claimed the top spot with an estimated $298 million in earnings. It was not a narrow victory. The Canadian hitmaker finished nearly $100 million ahead of Taylor Swift, turning an already remarkable year into one of the most lucrative ever recorded for a contemporary music star.

A substantial portion of that fortune came from a headline-grabbing agreement with Lyric Capital Group. Tesfaye reportedly secured an estimated $200 million upfront through a convertible debt deal tied to his music catalog. The arrangement demonstrated that his value extends far beyond streaming charts, with investors placing a premium on the long-term power of his songs.

The other major engine behind the windfall was the After Hours Til Dawn Tour. The global stadium trek surpassed the $1 billion gross revenue mark, officially becoming the highest-grossing tour by a male solo artist. More importantly for Tesfaye, the tour reportedly generated roughly $77 million in profit from more than forty performances during the year.

The final leaderboard highlighted just how dominant the year was for The Weeknd. Taylor Swift followed with $202 million, while Beyoncé earned $148 million and Kendrick Lamar collected $109 million. Coldplay and Shakira tied at $105 million each, but none came particularly close to matching the scale of Tesfaye's blockbuster financial run.

The Canadian singer did not become the highest-earning musician in 2025 by doing nothing; he was booked and busy almost the whole year.

The Weeknd's busy 2025

Abel Tesfaye remained in constant motion throughout 2025, turning nearly every corner of his career into a headline. He released 'Hurry Up Tomorrow', continued the record-shattering After Hours Til Dawn Tour, and watched the trek surpass $1 billion in gross revenue. Meanwhile, 'Blinding Lights' became the first song in Spotify history to cross five billion streams, extending his hold on the streaming record books.

The milestones kept arriving. After boycotting the Recording Academy for four years following the controversy surrounding After Hours', Tesfaye stunned viewers with a surprise Grammy Awards performance alongside Playboi Carti, delivering 'Timeless' and 'Cry For Me' on music's biggest stage. Combined with a major Lyric Capital Group deal and Forbes-estimated earnings of $298 million, it completed a year that blended cultural influence, commercial power, and historic achievement
