It seems that artificial intelligence is no longer free to trample over the delicate sensibilities of TikTok feeds. Admirers had been gleefully producing AI spectacles, such as Sherlock Holmes teaching Thanos ballet or Wonder Woman juggling donuts in Times Square. Now, the social media platform's owners believe that, as entertaining as this is, the era of AI-generated superhero antics must come to an end.
ByteDance has pledged to strengthen protections on its Seedance 2.0 artificial intelligence model, aiming to stop users from generating content based on Hollywood intellectual property. According to Deadline, the company plans to implement stricter safeguards to ensure that videos featuring popular characters are not created without permission.
This comes after Disney and Paramount issued cease and desist letters, alleging unauthorized depictions of franchises such as Star Wars, Marvel, and Jurassic Park. ByteDance will review and limit the AI model’s access to copyrighted material to prevent further misuse.
According to Deadline, the new safeguards include monitoring systems to detect and block attempts to replicate recognizable characters or franchises. Users attempting to use such content will face restrictions to protect intellectual property.
It seems the studios have finally drawn the line after AI’s viral creations turned the best of the stunts into internet spectacles.
The best of the AI debacle originating from TikTok
Seedance 2.0 showcased the most impressive fan-made reimaginings of beloved series, beginning with a viral alternate ending for Stranger Things. The 2.5-minute video featured Eleven, Will, and Kali joining forces against Vecna and the Mind Flayer, perfectly capturing the show’s lighting, voices, and expressions.
Beyond Stranger Things, the model brought superhero battles to life, depicting Spider-Man clashing with Captain America in New York streets and Anakin Skywalker dueling Rey with cinematic precision. These clips demonstrated Seedance 2.0’s ability to replicate complex choreography and atmospheric effects convincingly.
The AI also ventured into reimaginings of entire franchises, turning the main cast of Friends into playful otters and creating alternate, heartwarming endings for Chainsaw Man. Each scene highlighted how the model could blend humor, drama, and intricate physics for visual storytelling.
Even the absurd found its stage, with sequences like Will Smith confronting a towering, red-eyed spaghetti monster. These creations highlighted AI’s capacity to entertain, astonish, and blur the lines between homage and invention.
