As 2026's crown jewel, Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey stands as the year's most anticipated release, with 70mm IMAX premieres selling out a full year ahead. Fresh off his Oscar-sweeping triumph with Oppenheimer, the director's Homeric epic promises spectacle on a mythic scale. Even atop those sky-high expectations, Tom Holland just revealed The Odyssey will still startle audiences.

Tom Holland is generating massive buzz for Christopher Nolan's highly anticipated epic The Odyssey. In an interview with GQ, the actor called it an absolute masterpiece. The Spider-Man star did not hold back in showering Nolan's vision with praise.

"I can tell you that it is an absolute masterpiece, and I’m taking myself out of that equation. Chris Nolan’s movie is fantastic. It’s unlike anything that I’ve ever seen before." What left Holland most stunned was Nolan's commitment to practical effects over digital wizardry. He recalled watching the film and wondering how the frame had even been possible to conjure.

"How did you do that?" Holland wuotes himself, admitting that this is a reaction he has not had in years amid the CGI-saturated landscape of modern cinema. Holland explained that audiences are so used to computer-generated spectacles that they assume the impossible is all pixels and algorithms.

Yet Nolan insisted on shooting as much as possible in-camera with meticulous planning. Even sequences Holland assumed were heavily computer-generated turned out to be pure practical magic. The film's ambition also captivated Holland on every level.

"I was absolutely blown away by the scale, the scope, his ability to navigate such an intricate and heartfelt story in the middle of this insane kind of action movie," calling it one of his proudest acting achievements.

While Tom Holland heaps praise on The Odyssey, he has also shared updates from another upcoming project.

Tom Holland reveals Spider-Man: Brand New Day reshoots are underway

In the same GQ interview, Tom Holland dropped exciting behind-the-scenes intel on Spider-Man: Brand New Day, revealing that the team is knee-deep in reshoots right now. Chatting from London over Zoom, the star confirmed he is on hand for extra filming that is injecting fresh energy into the Marvel Studios/Sony tentpole.

Far from a desperate fix, these tweaks are polishing an already solid cut directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, turning good into great with smart enhancements. Holland stressed that the core film is firing on all cylinders and the frames being re-shot are pure bonus, he shared, likening it to "icing on the cake" in spots that could use a lift.

The reshoots zero in on ramping up the laughs to match the web-slinger's signature wit, while deepening a mysterious villain's arc with clever new twists. As for who that shadowy foe might be, speculation runs wild. These updates paint Holland at a career high while balancing Nolan's epic practical spectacle with Brand New Day's humour-fueled MCU swing, signalling a thrilling phase for the actor.
