Palm Springs will be missing the charm of Leonardo DiCaprio this year. Leonardo DiCaprio has been a frequent and celebrated presence at the Palm Springs International Film Awards, dazzling from Revolutionary Road to The Revenant, but international restrictions have proven a tougher critic than any review.

Leonardo DiCaprio was scheduled to receive the Desert Palm Achievement Award for his performance in One Battle After Another. However, Variety learned that the Academy Award winner was unable to leave St. Barts due to air restrictions following the international conflict.

Ahead of the New Year, the actor was photographed vacationing with family and friends, including Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez. As a result, those airspace limitations directly prevented Leonardo DiCaprio from attending the Palm Springs International Film Festival ceremony.

Variety also noted that Palm Springs International Airport released a statement on X confirming that departing flights were under a ground stop. The FAA air traffic control issue affected Southern California airspace, caused inbound diversions and delays, and extended beyond PSP to several regional airports.

With One Battle After Another, the Academy Award Winner remained in contention for a second Academy Award for Best Actor. The Paul Thomas Anderson film won Best Picture from the National Society of Film Critics, and the actor was also nominated at the Critics' Choice Awards.

Despite his absence, fans happily celebrated Leonardo DiCaprio’s award, showing his performance in One Battle After Another triumphed without him present.
