It appears that the Wizarding World’s magic has jumped off the page and into boardrooms, as fans are not the only ones eagerly awaiting HBO’s Harry Potter series. The series, an original reboot, aims to provide a more detailed, book-faithful adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s seven-part saga. The latest reveal by a Warner Bros. Executive suggests that fans should hold no limits to their excitement.

HBO Max’s highly anticipated Harry Potter series will arrive on the streamer in 2027, and it appears the excitement extends well beyond fans. At a London press event on Monday, JB Perrette, CEO and president of global streaming and games at Warner Bros. Discovery, emphasized that series is going to be the biggest streaming event yet.

“The biggest streaming event in the history of HBO Max and arguably in streaming, period,” Perrette announced at a Monday event in London, as reported by Deadline. He suggested the series will redefine platform expectations, setting an unusually high bar for global streaming initiatives.

According to Deadline, the executive also revealed March 26 as the U.K. and Ireland premiere date, framing it as a centerpiece of HBO Max’s 2027 slate. Analysts predict the series may shape not only the platform’s fortunes but also the future of franchise-driven streaming worldwide.

Their bold claims make sense when one considers the painstaking work driving the series behind the scenes.

HBO Max’s Harry Potter reboot has become a decade-long obsession, reflecting the sky-high ambitions of JB Perrette. As per what HBO's CEO revealed in a 2023 investor's meeting, each season will unfold one novel in full, granting subplots like the Gaunt family, S.P.E.W., and Quidditch World Cup the screen time they deserve.

Showrunners Francesca Gardiner and Mark Mylod, both Emmy winners from Succession, lead the series, ensuring complex character dynamics and high-stakes drama.
