The trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day has finally arrived, dropping Tom Holland’s Peter Parker into a much darker phase of the MCU. The story picks up in the aftermath of New York's memory wipe, leaving him isolated with new threats. Yet, it is Sadie Sink's absence from the footage that is catching momentum in the theorizing world.

The biggest theory right now points to Jean Grey, the iconic X-Men telepath. Some insiders think Sadie Sink could show up as an early version of the Phoenix, which would neatly tie into the movie’s rumored mutant angle. It also opens the door for possibilities of Peter dealing with messed-up memories or hallucinations after Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Then there is the wildcard pick: Screwball. She is basically a chaotic, internet-obsessed villain who loves messing with the swinging hero for clout, and that could actually work really well in a darker, street-level story. If this may be the case, Sink will be playing a tech-savvy troublemaker pulling off wild stunts and sly disguises.

Another close contender has been Gwen Stacy. With Peter now completely forgotten by everyone, introducing a new Gwen could hit hard emotionally, especially if she becomes someone important without knowing who he really is.

While fans speculate on Sadie Sink’s role, the trailer itself is raising even bigger questions about Peter’s powers.

Fans are already picking apart the Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer, and a bunch of moments hint that Peter’s powers are seriously out of whack. He can be seen getting tangled in his own webs, passing out mid-action, and even waking up wrapped in an eerie cocoon. Then Bruce Banner drops a wild line about his DNA mutating.

Which could explain why even something as small as a drop of water sends his spider-sense into total overload. There are also hints that he might start producing organic webs straight from his wrists, which longtime fans will recognize as a throwback to Tobey Maguire’s version.

But this upgrade does not come easy. With a city that no longer remembers him and crime piling up, Peter is pushing himself to the edge, and now he cannot even rely on his own strength or reflexes, and this is where Sadie Sink’s mystery role starts to feel even more important. If she is tied to something psychic or mutant-related, she could be messing with Peter’s mind or even amplifying whatever is happening to his body.
