Zack Snyder has been reminiscing about his glory days as if it were his trademark. As he refreshes his camera reels, the audience is graced with another look back at his days directing Henry Cavill.

Zack Snyder had taken a spin on the DC Universe for the first time in 2013. After releasing Man of Steel, he continued his version of the comic-brought-to-life two times more before being put down.

In a possible aftermath, Snyder has taken to preserving his memory of the time. Most recently, this unfolded as an Instagram post of Henry Cavill dressed as Superman's alter ego, Clark Kent, in his years before donning the cape.

"Before saving the world, Clark Kent was waiting tables," Snyder wrote in the caption. Posted on January 11, 2026, the post was met with a divided reaction from the audience. While some cited hope for the return of the Snyderverse, others simply reminisced along.

The melancholy behind Zack Snyder's Instagram posts comes with a long history between him and the DC cinematic universe.

What happened to Snyderverse?

Zack Snyder's spin on the famous DC comics' heroes is often termed the Snyderverse, Snyder's Cut, or the DCEU (DC Extended Universe). His appointment to make Man of Steel had reportedly been a hurried decision by Warner Bros.

While Man of Steel made $668 million worldwide, it was not nearly enough when pitted against the success Marvel had built. As time went on and studio interferences kept hindering Snyder's own vision for the DC Universe, the numbers dipped.

With several factors at work, Zack Snyder eventually departed the superhero scene. As of 2025, James Gunn has released his version of Superman, taking DCU for a new spin.
